35 years of teaching, writing and directing

I currently teach as a guest practitioner, visiting lecturer and coach in Acting for Performance, Voice and Classical Text at The Rose Bruford College of the Arts.

I teach across a wide variety of programs including 2 M.A. courses: Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) and Actor Musicianship. Also, with the American Theatre Arts - BA, European Theatre Arts - BA, Foundation and BA Acting/Acting Musicianship. I am also a guest Director often across the Shakespeare Season and with the MA programs.

For many years I have been a Senior Voice and Text Associate and Senior Associate Education Practitioner with the Royal Shakespeare Company working across a number of projects, both in-reach an out-reach. Current work includes The Shakespeare Nation Project with 3 community groups across 3 UK cities.

I support a number of UK Theatre Companies the length and breadth of the British Isles as Patron/Associate/Mentor. Many of these were associated with the RSC’s original Open Stages Project 2011-16.

I am keen to support all forms of training and regularly attend many Studio Programs including The ‘A’ Project at Newcastle’s Theatre Royal and Belfast’s Lyric Studio Program helping students to access quality training who might be challenged by economics and geography.

On my own turf I am the Associate and Patron of ‘Re-Shake Theatre Company’ in Kent.

My own company ‘Garden Shakespeare Theatre Company’ in Kent uses graduates solely so in their first professional job they get the opportunity of working ‘al fresco’ with my method ‘Elemental Shakespeare’ and working as an ensemble in repertory on a fairly large scale production.

I have my own training platform in Kent and run bespoke voice and text workshops and residential courses from my studio -  ‘The Colour Voice Studio’ exclusively working with my own established methodology.

During the pandemic I ran Zoom Rooms on a range of techniques.  A truly international meeting of minds and common pursuit.

I work regularly with the Oxford Theatre Guild and on with various groups throughout the year
